A Party and Event Photographer for the Charleston Area
Studio FB USA covers parties and family celebrations across Charleston, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville and the surrounding Lowcountry. Adult birthdays, children's parties, baptisms and first communions, anniversaries, retirement dinners, reunions and holiday gatherings all fall under the same idea: a group of people who matter to each other, in one place, for a few hours. Our role is to photograph the occasion so thoroughly and unobtrusively that the host can actually enjoy it.
Event photography is based in Summerville, and we travel throughout the Charleston area for it. Coverage is measured in hours and shaped around the event, whether that means the two hours around the cake and the toast or an entire evening from setup to the last guests leaving.
We work in English, Portuguese and Spanish. A large part of the events we photograph are hosted by Brazilian and Hispanic families in the Charleston area, and the ability to move between languages at a party, to ask the grandparents to join a photo or to organize the cousins for a group shot, is part of why those families call us back.
Children's Parties and Family Milestones
Children's birthday parties are a specialty. A first, second or fifth birthday moves fast, the guest of honor is unpredictable, and the moments that matter, the candles, the first bite of cake, the reaction to a present, the games, happen once. We photograph children's parties at the child's eye level, follow the action, and still make time for a portrait of the family and the birthday child in front of the decorations before the cake is cut.
Baptisms, christenings and first communions combine a ceremony with a celebration, and we cover both: the church or the service, the family portraits immediately after, and the gathering that follows. Coordination with the church on what is allowed during the ceremony is part of our preparation.
Reunions and anniversaries call for the largest group portraits we make. We plan the groupings with the host in advance and organize them quickly so that the portrait session does not swallow the party.
Coverage Options and How We Work
Every event is planned with a short conversation beforehand: the schedule, the venue, the key moments, the people who must be photographed, and any surprises we should be ready for. On the day, we arrive before the guests to photograph the venue and the details as they were prepared, then work through the event as it happens, with a mix of candid coverage and the planned group portraits.
Video coverage can be added to photography for the toast, the speeches, the dance or the surprise, so the sound and the movement of the moment are kept as well as the stills.
Every selected image is edited by hand, with natural color and light retouching that does not alter anyone's appearance. Ask about prints, albums and enlargements for the guest of honor.

Hosts in the Charleston area often worry that a photographer will make the party feel formal. It should not. Our coverage is quiet: no flash in faces during dinner, no interruptions during the speeches, and group portraits gathered in a few minutes at a moment agreed in advance. Guests forget the camera quickly, and the images show the party as it actually felt. If there is a surprise planned, tell us beforehand so we are positioned to photograph the reaction rather than the back of someone's head.
