A Newborn Photographer Near Goose Creek, North Charleston and Moncks Corner
Studio FB USA photographs newborns in Summerville, South Carolina, for families from Goose Creek, North Charleston, Moncks Corner, Ladson and the rest of the Charleston area. The studio sits a short drive from Joint Base Charleston and from the neighborhoods along Highway 52 and Highway 176, and a large share of the newborns we photograph come from exactly those communities.
Newborn photography is time-sensitive work. The features that make a newborn look like a newborn, the curled posture, the tiny hands, the way the baby sleeps through being moved, fade within a few weeks. A session in the first two weeks records them; a session at two months records a different, equally lovely baby. We tell families this plainly so they can decide what they want.
We work in English, Portuguese and Spanish, which matters for the many Brazilian and Hispanic families in the Goose Creek and North Charleston area who would rather plan something this personal without a language barrier, and for military families who arrived in the Lowcountry recently and are still building their local network.
Booking During Pregnancy, Not After the Birth
The most common mistake with newborn photography is waiting until the baby is born to look for a photographer. By the time a date is found, the ideal five-to-fourteen-day window has usually passed. The solution is simple: contact us during the second or third trimester with your due date, and we hold a tentative slot around it.
Once the baby arrives, you send a message from the hospital or from home, and the exact day is set. If the baby comes early, late, or needs extra days in the hospital, the slot moves with you. Nothing is lost by reserving early, and everything is gained.
Families who also want maternity portraits can plan both at once. The maternity session is photographed between 28 and 34 weeks, the newborn session follows a few weeks later, and both galleries are edited in the same style so they sit together.
Posed Newborn Portraits or Something Simpler
Posed newborn photography is the style most people picture: the baby wrapped or curled on a soft surface, small props, muted colors, close details of fingers and toes. It requires a warm room, a deeply asleep baby and a photographer who knows how to support the baby safely at every moment. Every frame that looks like the baby is holding its own weight is a composite of supported images. The baby is never left unsupported, ever.
Some families want something simpler: the baby in a parent's arms, on a plain blanket, in the light from a window, with very little styling. That is a valid choice, and the session can be built entirely around it. Bring anything you would like included, such as a hand-knitted blanket, a family keepsake or a small item that signals where the family comes from. Parents photograph best in solid colors; siblings in simple, comfortable clothing.
Feed the baby right before the session, dress the baby in loose clothing that is easy to remove, and plan for the session to take as long as the baby needs. Feeding and comfort breaks are part of the process.
Studio Location and How to Reserve
Studio FB USA is at 115 Crosscut Lane, Summerville, SC 29486. From Goose Creek the drive is short; from North Charleston and Moncks Corner it is usually under half an hour. In-home newborn sessions are also available throughout the same area for families who prefer to stay put in the first weeks.
To reserve a date, call or text (843) 727-5264, or use the booking form on our website. We will note your due date, hold a slot and send preparation notes covering what to bring and how to prepare the baby.
Military families stationed at Joint Base Charleston often arrive in the Lowcountry a few months before a baby is due, without a local photographer, a local pediatrician or family nearby. We are used to that, and a newborn session is a small way of making the first weeks in a new place feel settled. Reach out with the due date, tell us where you are living in Goose Creek, North Charleston or Summerville, and we will handle the planning so that the only thing you have to do after the birth is send a message.
