Wedding Photography in Summerville and Charleston, SC
Studio FB USA photographs weddings across Summerville, Charleston and the South Carolina Lowcountry, from small ceremonies in a backyard to full days at downtown venues and plantation estates. We are based in Summerville and work throughout the area, including Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Goose Creek and the beaches at Folly Beach, Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island.
Wedding photography is different from every other service we offer. There is no second take, the light changes from the first look to the last dance, and the photographer has to be in the right place before the moment happens, not after. Our approach combines directed portraits, where the couple and the families are guided into frames that will hang on a wall, with documentary coverage of everything in between: the getting ready, the ceremony, the reactions, the speeches, the dance floor.
We work in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Many of the couples we photograph in the Charleston area are Brazilian or Latin American, or are marrying into a family that is, and a wedding team that can direct a group photo in three languages without a translator makes a visible difference on the day.
Photography and Video for the Whole Day
Studio FB USA offers both photography and video for weddings, and couples increasingly want both. Photographs are what you frame and print; video is what carries the vows, the toasts and the music. When one team handles both, the photographer and the videographer work with each other rather than around each other, and neither ends up in the other's frame during the ceremony.
Coverage is built around your day rather than a fixed package. A courthouse ceremony followed by dinner needs a few hours; a full day with getting ready, a first look, a ceremony at a church in Summerville and a reception in downtown Charleston needs a team that can move between locations without missing anything. Tell us what the day looks like and we will propose coverage that fits it.
Every selected image is edited by hand in a consistent style, with natural color and retouching that does not alter anyone's appearance. Ask about albums and prints; wedding photographs are made to be printed.
Planning the Wedding Day Timeline
The single most useful thing a couple can do for their photographs is build the timeline with the photographer. Light is the reason. In the Charleston area, the last hour before sunset is the best light of the day for couple portraits, and a ceremony scheduled at the wrong time means the portraits happen in harsh sun or in the dark. We help you place the ceremony, the family photos and the couple portraits so the light works for you.
A few practical rules apply everywhere. Family photos need a list, prepared in advance, with someone from each side who knows every face. Getting-ready coverage needs a room with window light and a little order. A first look, if you want one, takes pressure off the post-ceremony window and gives the couple a private moment before the day accelerates. None of this is mandatory; all of it is worth discussing.
Summer weddings in the Lowcountry also need a heat plan and a rain plan. Both are normal, and both are easier to manage when the timeline has slack.
Booking Your Wedding Photographer
Studio FB USA is located at 115 Crosscut Lane, Summerville, SC 29486, and photographs weddings throughout the Charleston area and the wider Lowcountry. Popular dates in spring and fall are reserved well in advance, so contact us as soon as your date and venue are set.
Call or text (843) 727-5264, or use the booking form on our website. Tell us the date, the venue and the shape of the day, and we will respond with coverage options for photography, video or both. Engagement sessions can be planned alongside the wedding coverage for couples who want images for save-the-dates.
Destination couples who are marrying in the Charleston area without a local network often rely on the photographer for practical knowledge: how long the drive from a Summerville church to a downtown reception takes on a Saturday afternoon, where the shade is at a beach ceremony at four o'clock, which hour the light is best at a particular venue. We share that freely during planning. It is part of making the day run on time, and a day that runs on time is a day with better photographs.
